Man Utd see Van Persie agents dismiss Juventus interest over scandal | Transfers | Tribal Football

Manchester United’s chances of signing Arsenal striker Robin van Persie continue to get stronger.

Manchester United‘s chances of signing Arsenal striker Robin van Persie continue to get stronger.

The Mirror says Van Persie could be ready to snub Juventus as their coach Antonio Conte is facing a lengthy ban over match-fixing related allegations levelled against him.

Carl Thomas, who is assistant to the Arsenal striker’s agent Kees Vos posted on Twitter that Conte’s predicament was “hardly the advert” to convince RvP to sign for Italian champions Juve.

Conte is accused of failing to report alleged match-fixing in two games in the 2010-11 season, when he was in charge of Siena in Italy’s second tier.

United and Manchester City have been battling it out with Juve for the Arsenal and Holland star this summer, and all three have had bids turned down by the Gunners.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is impressed by young striker Adam Morgan.

Morgan struck on tour of the US against Toronto FC.

“I think it was massive for Adam to be involved with the first team on this tour and it was brilliant of the manager to give him that chance,” Fowler told liverpoolfc.com.

“As a goalscorer I think he’s fantastic. I was lucky enough to train with him at the Academy last year when I was doing some coaching. He is very left footed and his finishing is very good.

“He is composed in front of goal and Rushie would tell you as well, if you are composed and patient in front of goal then you will have a chance.

“He never looks ruffled and that to me is a great sign regardless of what level you are playing at. He scored a goal against Toronto and that is a good sign.

“He’s a young lad, he’s got a lot to learn about his play outside the box but that will come. As a finisher he is probably one of the best I’ve seen for a long, long time to be honest.”

Rodgers has huge admiration and respect for the defender.

Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com: “He’s a phenomenal character. I’ve watched him from the outside for many years and to play 700 games at a club as prestigious as this is incredible.

“The pressures that come with wearing the shirt at this club are vast and for him it’s a way of life. He’s devoted his life to being a football player. He’s 34 now, so it doesn’t get any easier when you are older, but certainly I’ve been very impressed over the course of the pre-season.

With the likes of Ji-sung Park and Darron Gibson departing this year, it was suggested to Tunnicliffe that the path to a midfield place may start becoming clearer from his perspective.

“There are not as many people,” he admitted to manutd.com.

“But we’ve still got Larnell [Cole] and Jesse [Lingard], who are doing very well as well, and people who are younger than me and have got me looking over my shoulder as well as looking forward.

“There is a gap but I think there are still plenty of good players in the squad that I’ve got to get past to even get a few games this year.”

Wolves will need to be patient under Solbakken – Henry | Premiership News | Tribal Football

Wolves midfielder Karl Henry is aware that the club will need to develop under new manager Stale Solbakken.

Wolves midfielder Karl Henry is aware that the club will need to develop under new manager Stale Solbakken.

The Molineux outfit are preparing for the upcoming Championship campaign after last season’s relegation under Mick McCarthy and then Terry Connor but now with Solbakken at the helm, who has brought with him a breath of fresh air, things are extremely positive.

However, Henry knows the fans will have to remain patient as the players get to know the methods and philosophy of the Norwegian great.

“It’s going to take time for us to do exactly what the manager wants us to do,” he told Express & Star following the 2-2 pre-season draw with Greenhous Meadow.

“I think he wants us to be compact and difficult to break through, but at the same time, we can’t be taking that too literally – we’ve got to get near the ball and press teams as well.

“We got the ball up to the strikers slightly quicker and then got behind the ball in support and ended up playing a bit higher up the pitch.

“It’s still early days.”

Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Paul Scharner could be continuing his career in Germany.

The 32-year old Austrian was released by the Baggies at the end of last season and was initially keen to remain in the Premier League but it has been confirmed that he is training with Eintrach Frankfurt and could win a contract there according to general manager Bruno Huber.

“We met in a hotel and discussed his situation, (Eintracht Frankfurt coach) Armin Veh was part of these talks,” Hubner told BILD.

“We were keen to get a personal impression as it had been said that Scharner would be controversial – crackers, they say.

“However, we have been getting an extremely different impression – a very positive one. He is part of our training until Sunday, then we will see.

“He has all the things required and you would not need to test him anyway. He is experienced, he is good in one-on-one situations and has willpower too.

“He is without a club and he is also able to keep up his fitness for Austria’s forthcoming international match.”

Chelsea’s Sturridge: New signings will have to adapt | Premiership News | Tribal Football

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge suggests that clubs new signings will need to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge suggests that clubs new signings will need to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The Blues have brought in the likes of Marko Marin, Eden Hazard, Oscar and Thorgan Hazard this summer and Sturridge feels they will take time to adjust although he is confident they will all become quality players for the Southwest London club.

“The club has bought very well. It’s important that we have players like [Eden] Hazard who can make something happen out of nothing,” he told talkSPORT.

“It’s important that we play together on a regular basis so we gain an understanding. When it’s a player’s first season it is difficult to get into the speed of the Premier League game, so it is going to be a difficult season for them.

“But I’m sure they are good enough individuals and, with the help of the senior players, they will be fine.”
